GT question
I have a 1983 Malibu Wagon and was wondering about running in SSGT class. After trying to find a motor to run in stock with no luck was wondering about SSGT. Any suggestions pertaining to engine combo”s would be great as I have never run class racing.

Re: GT question
There are two 305 combinations in the guide to run stock and are pretty good. As far as SSGT pretty much any V8 GM motor in the guide will work.

Re: GT question
I would think a 305 from a Malibu or Malibu wagon would be almost as common as bellybuttons. I'd guess if you post here looking for one that someone would have a few they would be willing to sell.
If you do go the GT route I think a 327 350 horse L79 would be a good choice. The 350 hp was achieved at a reasonable 5800 RPM and max torque of 360 lb ft at just 3800 RPM. |
Re: GT question
I did have a line on a 305 but out of my price range. Not that easy to find one for me at least.

Re: GT question
If a 305 stocker motor is out of your price range you really need to re=think SSGT.

Re: GT question
16k was a bit much for me to spend on a 305 motor.

Re: GT question
Post in the classified section here and other sites that you are looking for a 305 stocker motor. If you’re patient you should be able to get a .5 under motor for 5-7k.
