Cerakote
Has anybody tried this stuff? After 10 years the Nitroplate is starting to fail on the first couple inches of my primaries. The rest of the primaries and collectors are still perfect. Was thinking about trying this. To keep them from rusting and ruining them. They say it’s good to 1800 degree’s and can be used on headers.

Re: Cerakote
Hey Rob I have used that stuff on some gun parts, its pretty good stuff but only if you bake it, so my opinion dont put the air dry on headers unless u can put them in an oven or get a local powdercoat co to heat them for you then it is very good in my Op. about 350F if i recall Rock

Re: Cerakote
I had my S10 headers done in black cerakote back in 2018. The prep is KEY including the media used to blast the headers, along with cleanliness. Mine are not perfect due to the person's inexperience that did them, but the cerakote is holding up perfect.
Previous headers on my Camaro were nitroplate, and they still look good, also. No issues with cerakote so long as they have experience. Clark |
Re: Cerakote
Degrease the parts (old & new)... Then Blast All Parts with Aluminum Oxide... Clean / Rinse the parts with Acetone before application... Follow the directions per the specific blends... Works great.

Re: Cerakote
Thanks guys. I’ll give it a try. I’ve got a blast cabinet and the correct abrasive. And a powder coat oven I made out of old kitchen stoves. Yes it’s redneck engineering but it works good. LOL.
