283 2BBL Cam selection

Can anyone shed some light on what works and what doesn't necessarily work in reference to duration and lsa in a 283 2bbl combo? Looking at the intake and carb I feel like this is something that is not going to want a lot of rpm. If that is correct I would assume a shorter lsa is required to use the available rpm range, but what range should I be looking at for in duration?

Thanks, Chris

Well, in my 307 (roughly the same everything except stroke) it ran well with 234/236 @ .050 on a 106 lobe sep. and in at 102 with a Powerglide. With a 3 speed, I'd probably back the cam up a few. It's going to make peak power at 6000 or less.

I ran a 350 ci 1970 250/224 HP 2 Barrel combo. I have a new Bullet cam sitting on the shelf at the shop if you want it.

Thats some good info Billy. I happen to have a cam here that was a take out from a circle track engine, and its 235/241 on a 106, so I will likely try it as a baseline knowing this.
