M200 burnout procedure with auto 1-2?

Installing a new M200 that has Auto 1-2. Have always been told not to start burnout in low gear with 200’s. Last couple couple years I have been using 2nd only. So my question is what is procedure with these auto 1-2 units?

High gear only burnout. It's easy on the trans. I understand it is what the 200 Guru's recommend, I know it is what Pro-Trans recommends.

It's not the 1-2 shift that kills the sprag, it's the 2-1 downshift when the tires hook up, especially if you still have your foot in it. High gear only is what I recommend to my customers.

Chipper, I know minimal about the M200's other than they are faster. How does the Auto 1-2 work? Tied into the ignition with a brain box to move the shifter? Suprised, without knowing mechanically/ electronically how it works, that Auto 1-2 shifts would be legal in stk. Very possible I am just misunderstanding the definition of auto 1-2. Thanks

Start burnout in second gear. 2-3
Like a power glide
Also if it a transmission with no cooling lines
Warm up trans consistently when racing
It helps repeatability
I’m have aMc Clay

Always do 3rd gear burnouts, the tire suppliers like it as well lol

The auto 1-2 feature runs off the governor and has an adjustable regulator of sorts regulating said governor pressure to make the shift point adjustable. There is also E-Shift valve bodies that uses a control box, supposed to only be used in EFI cars.

Thanks for the info guys, tried the high gear only, but at 3600 pounds with 4.33’s it didn’t like that, so I spent the weekend breaking them loose in low and immediately moving to high. 19 years of shifting on my own it’s a strange feeling, but it’s definitely a worthwhile upgrade!
