accusump plumbing
I am wanting to know about plumbing a Moroso Accusump with electric valve.
Can ball valve be eliminated? can electric valve be installed on oil filter adapter? The Oil line would leave accusump and be routed to electric valve attached to oil filter adapter thank you in advance |
Re: accusump plumbing
We run our accusumps with the electric solenoid mounted right to the accusump, and the exit line feeding right to my remote filter adapter. It works flawlessly, I highly recommend it. This does eliminate the ball-valve too, yes. Our solenoids are connected to the ignition switch, so they intentionally push a few quarts of pressurized oil into the motor each time I am about to hit the starter. When the motor is running, the pump pressure stabilizes and it pushes the couple quarts back into the accusump and I had a fully primed engine before every start up.

Mike what electric valve do you use? Thanks

Re: accusump plumbing
Hey Larry - We use the kit from Moroso in the link below. It works really well! It shows that they are out of stock, but I would think a little Google searching may bring up whatever the source is for that solenoid and it's just a pipe nipple that connects it to the accumulator container too.

Re: accusump plumbing
I met Mike Canton back in the seventies when he worked for Dick Moroso, he's a very smart dude.

Re: accusump plumbing
I use an electric valve mounted on the accusump. They replace the manual ball valve if that's what you are asking. One advantage is the electric valve will allow the can to charge when it is off but not allow oil to go back to the engine until it is turned on.
I use a dedicated switch to control the valve as desired. Pre-oil the engine before cranking if it has been sitting overnight or longer. Turn it off once the engine is running to allow it to refill. Leave it off until I roll into the water. Turn it on at that point and leave it on until after making the turn off. Turn it off at that point and leave it refill the can while driving back to the trailer and back to the lanes. Also useful for pre-oiling a fresh engine. Just have to fill, assemble and charge it, usually out of the car. That was my routine. |
