Turbo Action Shifter Issue
Hoping someone can help me with this. I removed my Turbo Action Cheetah shifter for some roll cage updates, now the shifter will not move down into 3rd gear. It's a reverse pattern shifter. It is not hooked up to the transmission, as I am waiting for the engine rebuild to be finished, and the transmission is also out of the car. It moves freely from park all the way through 2nd gear. If I remove the hold down bracket holding the cable to the mounting plate on the shifter inside the car, it will go into 3rd gear, but it moves the whole shifter cable, case and all. It's almost like the cable it binding, but the end of the cable where it attaches to the transmission still has room to move. I did adjust the neutral safety switch thinking it was stopping the shifter from going all the way to the rear, but that did not solve the issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Turbo Action Shifter Issue
It sounds like the cable has moved in its clamp ?? If you loosen the cable clamp, put it in third gear and then tighten the clamp back down will the shifter then move back up to park ?

Re: Turbo Action Shifter Issue
Possibly the cable got burned during the update? Got a spare cable to test with?

I had just about the same problem , I was told to try a NEW cable , that worked . Bill

Re: Turbo Action Shifter Issue
The Cheetah shifter is such a simple mechanism that really the only thing that it could be is the cable or the attaching bracket.

Re: Turbo Action Shifter Issue
Thanks for all the replies. I talked to Paul at Turbo Action. He helped me figure out the problem. There are 3 mounting positions for the hold down bracket on the shifter mounting plate. I had the bracket installed in the rearward most holes. Ended up, I needed to have it in the next forward holes to allow the cable to travel the correct distance. So it was a relatively easy fix. Thanks again for the suggestions.
