Summit ET Finals
 

I been reading the Summit et finals are in Vegas but noticed Ponoma is the world finals. Why isn't the et finals being held in Pomona ?

Covid was last years reason and the fact there was no Pomona. This year.... I don't think they were sure they were having a Pomona either, it's L.A. County and who knows what they will come up with at any given moment regarding Covid and restrictions.

From my understanding....it was moved to Vegas last year due to not having the finals at Pomona. After that experiment....

Summit has a long standing relationship with LVMS and I think they generally liked the Summit runoff at Vegas last year. In addition, from a logistical standpoint, Vegas is much easier to fly into than Pomona and technically closer to the east coast racers (albeit not much). In addition, from a parking standpoint, it just makes more sense to me that this runoff be held at Vegas, rather than Pomona.

Having attended both (thankfully I have friends that are good at this racing thing), really the biggest difference was swapping dinner at the museum for a short meeting in aluminum grandstands.

If they could upgrade that experience even to a tent in the pits or a pro hospitality area, it would be a nice compromise. The shorter drive was nice and the rest of the event was great.

LA has cancelled the County Fair at the Fairgrounds
which is their biggest event of the year there.

I am skeptical that the Finals will be at that venue =
but I do not have a working Crystal Ball any more!

The Fairplex is currently being used as a COVID- 19 vaccination site. The drag strip /parking area was being used as a drive up food pantry for the needy …..

Vegas is a better place. The pits re larger, they have actual bathrooms instead of porta jons, plenty of lodging within a very short drive and frankly a better track. I can say that because I have raced at Pomona since the early 60's. I've also raced at Vegas since the old track was out by the Bull Pen.
