staggered bolt pattern sbc starters

What year starter do I ask for when ordering a staggered bolt pattern aluminum snouted starter for my sbc 168 tooth flywheel starter? the one on my 55 is noisy and want to get a spare.

Powermaster lists what you are looking for in their starter choices. They show 8 different performance starters from OE right up to their Ultra Torque with the configuration your looking for. To date I have had zero issues with their products your results may differ.

Thanks for the info on the aftermarket starters, but I need to go down to the auto parts store and get a original style starter as I need to have it on the car in a day or so.

1980 Camaro 5.7 / 350 ci, auto trans, if you wish they can cross reference AC Delco 336-1824

Every auto parts store seems to have a different numbering system. But if you cross reference part number 3510. You’ll get what you need. I only know the Dixie electric numbers.

Also, some of the BBC Corvettes with manual transmission employed that starter and came with an iron nose housing.

Lynn, beware of the bolt length. There is an "intermediate" length that some of those starters require.

Good afternoon Lyn,
I believe the starter that's in my 454 (7.4 Liters - ugh!) 1989 20 series Surburban 2wd, Auto transmission is the staggered pattern and High Torque.
They call it a 2500R series if you have to go to an Auto Zone or Parts Authority or one of the Chain parts outlets.
I hope this helps.

Respectfully,
Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA
