Re: The Purse

Actually the payout on the $50,000 dollar race at The Million dollar race is worse than NHRA payout

Superstock winner in Houston won 6 rounds Payout $1,800 winner ?

$50,000 race wednesday at the million Entry $350. 6th round winner $800
7th round winner $1,000. Semis round 8 $2,000.

So, I was shocked when I looked up the numbers. I thought the same as you. Looking at numbers, Payout was worse at bracket race if you went 6, 7 or 8 rounds.

Understandable. But here is the thing at a bracket race and I'm sure you know this.. While the purse as advertised is very top heavy, everyone knows that once they get down to a certain round, the "split" takes the remaining purse and is more equally distributed. Even so, I still highly recommend anyone make an informed decision as to why you would attend a race.

Not sure the year referenced in the article so I just picked 1985.

If you just use the inflation calculator

1985 dollars = 2020 dollars
Entry $100 = $242
Win $1,200 = $2,903

With just inflation we should be racing for $3,000 with the current entry fee.
