SBC Oil Restrictors
For a SBC stocker build, using a SHP block and Trend solids. Was told to either restrict the lifters (pushrod cups) or install the oil restrictors in the block. The block restrictors have a .090" hole? Does this sound correct or does this block restrictor need to be bigger etc? I would like to here what racers are doing/using when it comes to restricting oil.
Thank You Robert |
Re: SBC Oil Restrictors
my experience with trend lifters was block restrictors didn't work, so I made my own and when I got enough restriction the rear rockers were good and by time got front wasn't oiling and had no oil coming out around lifters.... I had to fix that night.. so I made restrictors and put in lifter.... I believe trend has restricted pushrods that will do the job..
PPPC lifters.. they don't have that issue, all trend needs to do is move the hole in the lifter about a 1/4''and problem solved. if need to know how I did the lifters you can call me 606-678-3039 I can tell you a lot faster than I can type it |
Re: SBC Oil Restrictors
Mike thank you for the reply. So that I understand you correctly the oil restrictors for the SHP block did not restrict the oil enough? When I prime mine now (with no restrictors) the front rockers oil almost immediately then proceed to oil the back rockers very quickly.
Is anyone using oil restrictors in a SHP block using solid lifters? or is it better to flood the oil passages and then restrict at the lifters? |
Re: SBC Oil Restrictors
Robert---look at Dartheads.com they have a 5 page instructional list regarding those blocks what to do what not to do and how to do it along with a recommendation for the subject of oil restrictors---FED 387

Re: SBC Oil Restrictors
With the Trend lifters, restricting top end oil using Trend lifter cups with a .014 push rod oil hole worked best. -Al

Re: SBC Oil Restrictors
I have sold over 40 pair of these restrictors and never had a complaint, and all stated that it solved their problem with the SHP block.

Re: SBC Oil Restrictors
Thank You everyone, I got the restrictors from Dart to try. I will see how they work out.
Thank You |
