H- or X- Pipes

Just seen the new National Dragster article about H & X Pipes. I was wondering if you can use both a merge collector and a H or X pipe together? I run a big block chevy 502, it made 621 HP. @ 6100 RPM & 621 TQ. @ 4500 RPM. The car weighs 3400 w/ driver and ran 10.09 @ 131.53 MPH. It has a 4:10 gear and 60" @ 1.34. Any help would be helpful. I am on a budget, so be easy.

I know the Hendrick cup cars have one on them. They said they can help if everything is just right, but they can really hurt it if it's wrong. So, if you on a budget, I'd say not to get one unless you go to a chassis dyno to check.

Re: H- or X- Pipes

I added a 3" TTI X-pipe and exhaust system to their step headers, which extends to Dynomax Ultra-Flo mufflers (I know - bad word.) in front of the rear end housing, about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do a back-to-back comparison, but from all indications, it did help, especially after I took the 60lbs out elsewhere that the system added! It doesn't cause any major access inconveniences underneath, but it wouldn't have stayed on if it didn't help.

It's Mopar-only headers. But the pipes can be adapted otherwise.
