Topeka LODRS 5-2 Stock Qualifying
Anyone know what happened to Corey Hopkins? Saw him make runs on the live feed but didn't show up on the final qualifying sheet.

Statement of Action Against Participant The NHRA disqualified Corey Hopkins from the July 25-26, 2019 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Heartland Motorsport Park. During the technical inspection process, it was discovered that the intake manifold did not comply with the rules. This is a violation of Section 11A, Intake Manifold, page 5 of the 2019 NHRA Rulebook. |

So when did they find it.? Or did a racer point it out.

The 383 666 intake is a hot issue.
Apparently it is approved for 62-67 and 70 and up, but not for 68-69. Everyone was under the assumption that it was approved for 68-69 and most claim that it was stated that way previously. Does anyone have an old accepted products document that possibly lists this? |

This too weird, that manifold was standard issue on 69 model years, and rule book plainly says must be year claimed or accepted for other years.

Re: Topeka LODRS 5-2 Stock Qualifying
Here's the skinny on the Mopar 383 666 intake deal as I see it... So take it for what it's worth. As Jack stated above the 666 intake started showing up on 383s from Ma Mopar in mid to late year 69 and was the standard in 70-71. When a racer went thru the trouble to get this intake approved for his 66 combo and somehow got it approved for 62-67 383's (which to my knowledge it was never available on) somehow it ended up disappearing from the 69 list. Which is crap in my opinion that A:it got approved in the first place and B: that it got removed from a combo that it is correct for. I believe when Corey's engine was originally built the 666 was listed as a legal intake, when he was checked in Topeka and told the intake was not legal, he went and got a intake that is what is now shown as correct in the guide, Installed got reteched, and went about his business of having a beautiul fast car!

That intake first showed up for the 1970 model year. Period. The choke thermostat needs a cup and gasket under it because it is open the the exhaust crossover. That intake never came on a 1969 model year vehicle.
