5th Gen/ 6th Gen Camaro

Anyone know someone that is 6’3” or taller driving a STK or SS one of these era Camaros? Just spitballing ideas in my head and trying to see if someone my size (6’4” 300#) could actually class race & bracket race one of these and not need a roof blister for my helmet. :D Thanks!

Depends. Have a friend that is the same height as me (slightly shorter than you) though his inseam is 4" less than mine. He would need a Ford GT40 roof blister in one for sure being so long in the torso, or a really reclined seat! My helmet is really close to the roof in one of these. Go to the next division or bracket race and ask to sit it one. You'll get a great chance to see how your view is restricted. A new Camaro seems to have a big blind spot looking over your shoulder with the roof/quarter panel design.

I'm 6'8" 290 LBS and been running my 2012 5th gen COPO for 7 years. The 6th Gen cars are much smaller. I did put a set of kirkey race seats in mine to keep my helmet from touching the headliner.

When I picked up my car from Turnkey I asked who was the biggest guy they had driving a COPO. They said "That would be you!"

The aftermarket Seat rule really helps for Plus size Drivers.
The visibility on the Camaro is a problem.

Thanks John. I have driven a street version and it was bathtub like, but I also slouched a lot and leaned the seat way back.

Thanks Ross. Yeah, if you can ‘fold’ yourself into one, I can too. Just need stretchy fire pants. Ripped two pairs out getting my Chevelle. Less cheeseburgers and ice cream, more walking too. I probably wont every be less than 250 though. Just how I am built.

Thanks Bobby. I can fabricate the seat mounts and get the seat bottom 3/4” off the floor, but that only does so much. I would never run a blown version, rather thinking about turning a 100k mile V6 car from down south into a drag car. So I would put in a full cage, but not a funny car cage. And I am guessing I would need a removable steering wheel to get my Dad bod in there. Just thinking out loud at this point. Your idea is a good one though. Take my helmet and ask to sit in one at the next NHRA event I attend.
