Anyone, working on a 57 chevy n/s what would you run for low gear in the trans and rear gear. thanks

Yes, I'm building a Nomad , 283 /245 ...6.14, 2.96 first gear.....

I would look for a tire with the shortest rollout assuming it is their stick tire. All brands tend to vary in roll out so look for a set on the short side.

is there any other rear axle, which can be legally used in a '57, besides the factory original or a 12 bolt? [dont even consider a Pont/Olds]. I already tried a Strange Ford out of a new copo Camaro. nhra would go for it, even though it had a GM #. jerks.
