Re: Headers

THAT depends a lot on the combo.

Be better off talking politics.

Tri-y if you are willing to do a lot of of dyno testing to get the max benefit

Tri-Y or 4-2-1 headers will require an entirely different camshaft development program, and possibly both a torque converter and rear gear change, as compared to a regular 4 into 1 header. Otherwise, you just have an expensive set of headers that make your car slower.

Ok so what would be the differences in combinations of parts when using the two different headers?

Our Tri-Ys were better than the Davis steps on the track and dyno. We might have been just lucky. Later we rolled the cam around and found a little more.

Briefly, the intake/exhaust bias on the camshaft will be different, and likely the LSA as well. The torque curve will be different, possibly requiring a change to the torque converter. And the change in the RPM bands may require a gear change. It requires considerable testing and development, you can't just give specifics off the top of your head. And then you have to realize that the dyno may not tell you what it wants at the track.
