Wheel Studs

Have Moser axles 5/8" 18 TPI RH knurl .685, pressed in studs. Need longer studs . Moser only offers 2 1/2" under the head length. Need 3 1/4". Looked on Summit / Jegs , ARP, others. Nothing in .685 knurl. Any racers run in to this and solved it, short of replacing the axles???

Re: Wheel Studs

Moroso has a 5/8 stud 3" # 46240 with a .672 knurl,or a 3" 1/2 stud with a .685 knurl #46190.Also M-W has a 4" drive stud kit in 5/8,but the hole in the axle is too big to tap at .685.The thread dia.is .625 for the 5/8 screw in stud. gsa612

Re: Wheel Studs

What type of rear wheel are you running?. gsa612

Re: Wheel Studs

Bogarts came on the car. I purchased some Weld Pro Stars for a set of spare rim/tires. The Welds have a 1/2" thicker hub.
The 11 to 18 threads per inch change, could be the solution, need to understand how it effects the rim, and stud torque.

Re: Wheel Studs

not sure if this will work but take a look at a Dorman 610-418 or GM 15725054 stud --these are used on GM duallies rear ends

Re: Wheel Studs

When you put the bogarts on with the 5/8 studs that you have,is there a lot of space between the wheel stud hole and the stud.Does the wheel move back and forth?.The od.of the 5/8 stud is .625 ,and the hole if you were using a shank nut would be .685.The only nut that seems to be available for the 5/8 course stud is flat on the back were it presses against the wheel. The cars that I've seen using 5/8 studs are using a M-W stud kit, that has a 4" stud that threads in the axle flange.then there is about a 2". 685.bare shank in the center
that goes thru the wheel and is tight inside the hole.It then has a threaded portion that you put a spacer and nut on.The Jegs 5/8 course stud might be better suited for a circle track car with a steel wheel, were you would use a beveled nut to center it in the hole.See what you come up with and keep us posted. gsa612
