Slick Balancing

Have an older FMC bubble balancer and having trouble, way too sensitive to work with. Just about ready to put mud in instead of gear lube. ???

We've balanced a bunch of tires on a similar balancer. We found it necessary to make sure that the side of the wheel with the most offset must face DOWN. Otherwise it was so sensitive it would not work. You might try that and see if it solves your problem.

Also, place weight on inside, half way in depth of wheel. *ex* 10" wheel, glue in 5" down from bead..

another tip to experiment with;

example: say the tire needs 6 oz at the 12;00 o'clock position. put 3 oz at the 10 & 2 position.

Always balanced slicks with the deepest offset down. Used stick on weights, used duct tape to cover them. Never had any kind of problems.

Re: Slick Balancing

The wheels i'm working with are 15" wide rims, 4" bs. After removing the engagement lever it became possible to put the deepest offset down. This made it manageable. Thanks for the replies and advise.
