Re: Which winch ??
Super Winch makes the S5500 and S7500 those were designed for trailer use the gearing is correct for pulling a car up the ramps onto the trailer
Both are available with optional cable for those that don't like the steel braided cable. |
Re: Which winch ??
Jegs and Summit have a Superwinch LT4000 for around $180. In the reviews a lot of guys use it to pull 3000-3500 lb cars into trailers. I have a tilt trailer and am looking at this one. It weighs around 25 lbs so it wouldn't be too hard to counterweight the back of the trailer to compensate for it.
It's considered an ATV winch. |
Re: Which winch ??
I've been pulling my 3k lb Camaro into the trailer with a 2500lb ATV winch. I pull it up an incline, I'm not lifting it off of the ground. Been using it for years and t comes right out if I need it for my open trailer, just connects to a D ring with a clevis.
If for some reason you want more pulling power just use a pulley block and double the cable back. One pulley will double the pulling power but will cut the speed in half. Not something you want to think about but I've seen plenty of wrecked cars winched in a trailer. |
