SVL Gears
I was looking at DANA 60 gears on the Summit site and they have a brand called SVL that are less expensive than the other brands. Has anyone bought this brand and had good service life with them? I'm assuming they are made in China, but don't know that for sure. Here is the description on the Summit page:
"SVL Drivetrain ring and pinion gear sets make finding the right ratio for your application easy. Engineered and manufactured for all makes and ratios, they deliver the ideal blend of coverage, performance, and value. SVL starts their ring and pinion sets with a computer-generated gear summary. From there, the gearing is forged from alloy steel for optimal hardness, and then the gears are cut with the utmost accuracy to ensure the smoothest possible ride, and computer-controlled heat-treating results in extra wear resistance. In the final stage of the process, the ring gear is mated to the pinion through gear lapping, which provides ideal meshing of the gearing. You can count on SVL Drivetrain ring and pinion gear sets to fit and function as expected in your automotive application." |
Re: SVL Gears
SVL is really Dana. I am not sure if its a separate company or that is just the name that Dana and or Spicer use for the gears they sell now.
My son got a set for a Dada 60 he is building. No complaints from the guy that set them up but he has not actually used them yet. Bill |

On the 1966 Dart, I think the 8-3/4" and a 904 ought to be OK with a 273-2bbl powerhouse. I have a new set of 4.56s (new Richmond) and a used set of 5.13s I bought from Terry Dye a month or so ago. Gear selection for both is getting worse. I don't see any 5.57 gears for the DANA 60 anymore. |
