It is my understanding that this Corvette is a new build and has not yet turned a tire. When it does show up at a track I will get some photos and post something.
Here is a photo of the 1970 Hemi Cuda from the 2016 US Nationals. |
Re: SS/A Corvette
Great looking race car.

Re: SS/A Corvette
Car was on Racing Junk a while back. Add said the car was built and put on the car show circuit and had never been raced. It is a very very nice car.

Re: SS/A Corvette
So John is going to the Dark Side, or the Cheaper Side? Not cheap, but almost anything short of something from Maranello is cheaper than a Hemi.

Re: SS/A Corvette
Hmmm....I heard it has Hemi heads and a cross Ram,,,

Re: SS/A Corvette
Thanks guys for all the kind words. Waiting on a chassis shop and cylinder head porter since March and first week of January respectively. Needed to finish what was started and turn a "show car" into a "Go car'! New liberty needs mounting and 7.50 cert cage. Car needs to be 110% how I plan on racing it. Was hoping to be at Indy this year duking it out with the thunderbolt and hemi, but while parts availability is no longer a problem, service is LOL!! Get in line and wait.....
Bottom line is this combo looked like a lot of fun. May be some hard work, that never deterred me, but I better be having fun doing it! I appreciate all the positive feedback, and will keep everyone posted with progress. Hope to be back out soon!! |
Re: SS/A Corvette
So....What's the plan for the 'Cuda? Being a Hemi guy, I always found it to be a very impressive car.

Re: SS/A Corvette
If they still check hoods the one on that vette is not going to pass.

Re: SS/A Corvette
Yes I realize the hood is "overheight". Again this was a west coast build showcar and I plan on going through the barn so all will be legal to the rulebook when I do race it. I wish the hood was the only issue I found and it wouldnt be in an Indy chassis shop right now but sitting in my own shop race ready.
And thank you, I love my '70 Cuda and really to be honest I completed most everything I wanted to with that car. Won races, set records. When I won class at Indy last year and ran an 8 second time at the dutch in SS/DA my bucket list with that car was complete. You go through life one time and I had planned to move up a few years back. Parts availability, even though I have a good supply of castings, and support, or lack of, from Mopar made the decision even easier. And future plans? The plan was to race the vette this year and use the '70 car as a backup as needed. That plan went to hell!! Not a big deal as this year was far to busy with business and personal investments. Time to make some $ instead of burning it LOL! The current plan is to put the AH car together over the winter as hopefully paint will be finished soon. I believe (hope) there will be a Hemi shootout at Indy next year as it will be the 50th anniversary of BO and LO Cudas and Darts. I would like to run there even if its a field filler. I have new Hemi and drivetrain for that car, so that is the plan right now. Hopefully Roth finishes vette and Slawko gets my heads close and I can resume that project at some point. The bottom line is the plan is subject to change at any given time as I am at others mercy for parts and work. It goes like the saying, you can have good, fast or cheap. pick 2!!! |
