Being new to this, I'm trying to wrap my head around how all this works as regards to additional weight that's going to be added.

I know from what times are shown on these two combos that the minimum change is going to be a HP hit of 3.25% from the AHFS chart, right? Does that become the percentage of extra -weight- per that class/combo that must be carried?
Like 3500 lbs X 1.0325 = new factor of 3614 ?

Mr baller .....if you are running I/SA it is a 12 lb. class.....if you receive 4 HP you must add 48 lbs.....sometimes it can move you out of the class....hope this helps....HP is never a good thing....

The appropriate percentage increase based on performance is applied to the factored HP rating.

"Adjustments are rounded up to the nearest full horsepower even if the fraction is below 0.5 horsepower. As an example, 2.15 horsepower is rounded to 3 horsepower. The quickest run, by the combination being reviewed, is used to determine the adjustment percentage."

Re: Horsepower on Monday...

Sometimes requesting a horsepower reduction is not such a good thing. I requested and got the Mopar 440/375 reduced 5 HP for Super stock. Big mistake.. it kept me from running SS/EA....Much more favorable than F and G. My car does not like weight.

For those of you building cars and worried about getting a horsepower hit...don't worry about it. Bracket race your new car first. You will probably be a second off.

Chevy 350 with a Quadrajet goes to what , 218 now? Oooh wow!

How come the stick gets hp with the automatic, and vice versa?

The V6's have separate ratings.

The 86 P/U 350 / 212 gets a 4.25% increase making the new HP 222 the bad news it can only run N-O-P now. As Mr MJ says adding weight never helps and couple that with the lower index that never helps as well.
