3074S M/T, a confusing and frustrating happening

Racers,

I need some help and experience about a tire change. For a number of years, I have raced with and recommended to others the M/T 3074S [32x14 stiff sidewall] This tire has given excellent performance and many rounds won with dead-on consistent runs.

The usage of this tire continued with my Super 10 and again, dead-on consistent, round after round.

Now the issue;

Two weeks ago I replaced the Super 10 tires simply because of them being two years old even though they were still performing excellently.

With the first run, Texas Motorplex, they chattered and slipped. This did not upset me even though it has never happened before with this tire or this truck. I thought, "OK new tire, needs a run or two to settled down"

I was wrong, even though I managed to win several rounds the chatter/slip never improved. The 60 foot was all over the map [exerating but coming from dead-on 60-foot numbers to moving around .02 - .03] We have a problem.

Yesterday, the second outing on the new tires was a repeat of the week before. slip/chatter and 60 foot moving .02 -.03 [again at Texas Motorplex] and again, managed to win some rounds in spite of inconsistent performance.

And remember, this is happening with a truck that prints time slips with the tire I just took off [same tire, same number, same size, same compound]

The starting line looks good, it has some rubber build up but is smooth and sticky. While watching other cars run most are dead hooking.

I am frustrated and open to suggestions.

I forgot to mention, we experimented with different pressures from a high of 12 to a low of 9 but the chatter/slip did not change.

With the tires I removed, 11 was the sweet number.

Did you contact Buddy at MT or the person that you bought the tires from?

I run that tire on my s-10 between 13.5 and 14 psi . at your weight I think 15psi would work. we run that tire at a pressure just slightly lower than the radial. you may just be wadding it up to much.

Thanks to all

Mark, I will keep going up with pressure and test that.
