Help with inconsistency

Been chasing this problem for over a month now on my 01 camaro.

It's basically a stock bottom end ls1, th350 and a 12 bolt. I raced it all last year with no problems and parked it in October after the last race. During the offseason I moved the battery to the trunk, cleaned my fuel sending unit (gas gauge didn't work), changed my front springs, changed fluids, added water temp and trans temp gauge.

First time out I go 6 tenths slow and 5 mph slow in the 1/8. 60' was close to normal but moved around the next couple passes. First thing I noticed leaving off the line my rpms would jump close to 6k and not 4900 where my flash is and making it hard to hit the 1-2 shift. First thing we do is take the trans and converter out and get them both checked and was told they both look good.

Since then I've put in a new fuel sending unit (thought maybe I damaged the old one taking it out), new fuel filter and tested all the injectors. The fuel pressure is at 52psi with the key on. We ran it the other weekend and the 60' is pretty close to what it should be but the e/t is still off and leaving off the line the converter gets up to around 5500 leaving off the line and still making it hard to hit the 1-2 shift.

I can also tell I can raise the rpms higher then normal at the starting line. Does it sound like this is a converter/trans problem? Or could it be a wiring issue from the battery relocation.

If its the converter, it is more than a broken sprag , sounds like some bent over fins . Did you make sure the oil level was correct ?

I just put in a friends converter over the weekend. Hoping the weather with hold and we will test this weekend.

Thanks.

Where are you tying to test this weekend Jamie?

Hopefully RPR, waiting to hear back. If not there then maybe HMP.

Jamie, A 4900 converter that all of a sudden goes to 6K, isn't going to last more than two runs, if that long.

I made 5 runs, maybe 6 that day when it acted up. Right after that we had it checked along with the trans and was told it was okay. Also that same week I changed my fuel sending unit and had my injectors checked thinking it was a fuel issue.

Now same converter it goes to around 5500 off the line. Its hard to say because it happens very fast and I have to shift right away or it hits the rev limiter. There has to be 10-12 runs on it right now.

Did you get a chance to run this past weekend? RPR this weekend?

Yes sir we actually went to hmp friday night. 1st pass it still ran slow but it didn't hit the rev limiter right away like before. Also the converter I tried is about 600rpm looser then mine. 2nd pass same thing but it picked a tenth in the 1/8th. It was hard to warm up the car in the pits with all the cars and the circle track was blocked off so hopefully that's why it picked up. Jeff tested for me and he said he can now make the 1-2 shift so hopefully that is the problem.

I pulled the trans/converter back out on Sunday and sent the converter out yesterday.
