Windsheild with tinted glass

After 30-35 years on bad Swedish roads before the car ended up as a racecar ,the windshield on my Superstock Dodge Polara '64 need to be replaced cause its very blasted .

Is it legal in NHRA Superstock to have windshield tinted or maybe partly tinted upper part ?

Thanks
Glenn A.

Glenn, According to the NHRA rulebook all windows must be clear except for factory tint. I hope this helps you.

Just curious, are you asking about a replacement windshield? If so I believe that would be legal

Yes , it would be a replacement windshield in that case.

Not sure you know the difference between tinted windshield and shaded windshield. Dave Casey operates a glass shop and he could definately point you in the right direction. He is a D 1 Stock eliminator racer.

Re: Windsheild with tinted glass

Cars in the 60's were generally available with either a clear windshield, or an optional shaded windshield. Back then tinted windows were generally standard on cars with air conditioning. New replacement windshields for older cars are easier to get shaded than clear , just more popular now. All are legal on the road or as a race car. If you give me some more info on your car(2 door , 4 door, convertible, sedan hardtop, polara or ? etc ) I will get you the nags part number and you can look around to see what is available to you. I have bought a windshield for a racer with a similar car to yours, I am sure there is some availability. When a racer asks me for a windshield and it is a popular one, I generally try to measure the thickness and get the thinnest one available to me so that there is a weight savings.

Thanks for the answer Dave !
With shaded glass , is that when the glass has a tinted part on the upper part of the windshield ?
Why I dont need the thinnest glass in front is because the weight transfer is allready about 48-52 % (front/rear) and it works great. GT/HA and a 383" (1969) in a 64 Polara 2dHt .
