Trans weight - turbo 350 vs 200 metric

Can anyone tell me the weight difference between the metric 200 and turbo 350. Any difference in converter weight-8 inch?

Mike I can't remember for sure , but I think 20 -25 lighter on the 200.
The converter difference would be negligible .The hub is shorter and smaller diameter, but the pilot has to be extended , and also the mounting lugs , in most cases

Mike,

I think it was 50-60 lbs. on the tranny, Metric is lighter ... I don't think there's
3-4 lbs. difference in Convertor's ... Hope this help's & hope all is well ..
Good Luck @ Indy & enjoy yourself ... Have Safe Travel's...

It depends on the TH350. A TH350 with two aluminum drums, lightened planetaries, a 250C sun gear shell, and 250C output shaft is fairly light.

I think Mark is pretty close.

How about a PG and the 200.

Very close to the same, depending on what options they are fitted with.

Assuming we are talking about Stock and Superstock the overall vehicle weight needs to stay the same, lighter transmission must adjust with ballast. The big difference would be any parts of the transmission that rotate. The 350 has a heavy large valvebody, heavy pump assembly and a iron low roller support. These parts just go for the ride and do not rotate. Has anyone compared 200 - 350 internals?
I know this question has been asked before without very clear answers, "How much does a Stocker pick up by replacing a race prepped 350 with a race prepped 200?"

Even though the car has to remain the same weight at least if you took it out of the transmission you could put the weight where you want it, and that may not be much of a advantage but it i'd say it counts for something.

My Powerglide and Metric 200 were within 2 lbs. of each other with similarly lightened internals.
