Leakdown
What are reasonable cylinder leakdown percentages for a well sealed stocker engine?
Thanks, BIll H |
Re: Leakdown
I'd say 6-8%, that's what we see, when we have decent power and no oil or smoke out of the breathers. I'm going to start using a blow by meter on the dyno.

Re: Leakdown
Vic
Are you using a 2 gauge tester? There seems to be a big difference between single and dual gauge testers on the same engine. Just curious if anyone else has run into this |
Re: Leakdown
Thanks. I just ran my old motor with a two gauge tester. Quite a variation, best was 2%, worst was 8%. I can hear the air from the valve cover breather, while the headers and carb are quiet, so I guess it is ring seal that is responsible for the variation.
Hey Vic, Did you tell me that Billy Nees did your headers? I imagine that he needs the car to build them? Thanks, Bill H. |
Re: Leakdown
i used a one gauge
yes billy needs the car i can give you my headers and have him build me a new set same size and all how many runs on engine 8% my car is dead |
