advantageous for Pro Bracket racing?
After 14 years of Pro Bracket racing my 69 Camaro with a 302ci and 327ci, and a wide ratio auto gear 4 speed, I have built a 406ci small block bracket engine to replace my smaller engines. Have been running 11.27-11.6's with the 327 this year. I plan on tuning the 406 to run 10.9 with a throttle pedal stop under the accelerator pedal, keeping the timing around 32 degrees and running a 750 carb. I plan on "not" running the engine "all out" and racing more like an index racer. Does anybody feel like this would be advantageous for Pro Bracket racing? Or a mistake? Suggestion's please.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to your question. IMO, I would run the motor all out, then detune just a tad. Usually 1-3 tenths works for us. There are other factors we take into strategy also. |
