Carb. Hesitation

I'm running a 340 with a carter AVS. I was wondering if anyone has ever had trouble with a hesitation on the starting line during acceleration?

Check accelerator pump and jetting.

Re: Carb. Hesitation

I changed the accelerator pump and it helped it. But it still has a slight hesitation?

Have you tried drilling the squirter holes to something like .035"?

Re: Carb. Hesitation

Haven't done that yet. Might give it a try

Look at the air door tension.

Re: Carb. Hesitation

Tighten the air valve spring, it needs to be pretty tight on them. Put the accelerator pump rod in the hole that gives the most travel of the pump, I think it's the outer hole.

Re: Carb. Hesitation

I have the air valve a little loose now. I will give it some more tension. I've got the pump rod in the outer hole it seems to work the best there

Has anyone tried sanding down the metering rods? Making them skinnier.

Re: Carb. Hesitation

Easier to change jets or rods than sanding on them and probably a bit
more accurate.
Work with your accel. pump by bending it so you have as much squirt left as
possible when engine is stalled up on line.
