desk top dyno ?
I have been using my desk top dyno to see what changes made a difference, and by how much.
I ran across an interesting deal. if I put in figures for a hyd. lifter cam, and get the HP numbers, and then use the same cam numbers, but change to a solid lifter cam, the HP numbers go up 30 to 50 horses. this seems crazy. your thoughts? thanks Rod in AZ |
Re: desk top dyno ?
It's not a real good program.
Performance Trends dyno simulators are far better. Larry Meaux's PipeMax is not really a dyno simulator, but a knowledgeable person can use it that way. To me, even Comp Cams cam selection software (Cam Quest) is more accurate than those old cheap programs. All dyno simulators are "garbage in, garbage out", meaning even the best of them yield useless results unless you feed them good valid data to work with. |
Re: desk top dyno ?
Engine Pro/Quarter Pro have selections for "High Rate Hydraulic" camshafts that includes calculations that target stocker-type hydraulic camshafts. It does a pretty good job.
