Bogart wheels
2 Attachment(s)
Anyone running Bogart R/T wheels needs to keep a close eye on them. My right front split on me Friday night, fortunately on an 1/8 mile track. The tire came off the rim before I could completely stop ruining the tire. I checked the left wheel and it has a crack started in it as well. If this had happened a few seconds earlier or had I been on a 1/4 mile track I would have crashed the car most likely. Hopefully the pictures will post ok.

Re: Bogart wheels
I have the bogart force5 wheels and split one last year. Fortunately it lost air in the staging lanes. $200 to fix it. I keep the bogarts as back up wheels now. Switched to billet specialties.

Re: Bogart wheels
Thanks for the heads up,, I've got Bogarts all the way around, and have never had a problem, for the 11 years I've owned my '68 Chevy II,, but I'll definitely keep a closer eye on them.

Dennis the email address you sent me doesn't work so I couldn't reply to you in person I finally got ahold of a human there late yesterday and Rich Bogart will do his best to contact you ASAP. Ironically our original Bogart wheels are about to celebrate their 20th birthday all 26 of them look brand new 4 cars with spares and seperate wheels for radials got to be over 2000 BIG wheel stands between my black 65 SS car and the white 69 big block stocker. Tony's car weighs about 3500 lbs and Beth's is over 3700lbs
The only time we ever had a issue was with my original monoqoque wheels before bogart had complete control of the company and was only doing the machine work and polishing for monoqoque they leaked wosre than a old set of firestone drag 500's. |

I did talk to Rich late yesterday about this. I'm sending the wheels to him so they can put a thicker outer hoop on the wheels. Probably won't have them back for Indy but I Keith Lynch has an extra set of light weight wheels I can use if needed. I appreciate the call yesterday Alex, hope to see you all at the track! Dennis |
Re: Bogart wheels
Rich Bogart is awesome to deal with. I had a issue earlier this year and broke one just past the finish line (1/4 mile at MIR), borrowed a wheel and tire from another guy and finished the race. Ive had them over 12 years, and had alot of hard landings so i think it was just from beating them up. Rich gave me a great deal on new ones so i bought two. Ill keep the other one for a spare.

Re: Bogart wheels
First of all, I run and have run Bogart wheels for many years and my Maverick even has 21 year old Monocoque wheels. That said, I am NOT commenting on the fit, finish or reliability. However if you choose to order Bogart wheels plan WELL ahead of the time that you want them.
My situation was unique because it involved my retired parents who own a winter home in Mesa az. that were going to pick them up and bring them home to mi. I did NOT assume that they would be ready. I was assured and personally promised that two 15x8 rear wheels would be completed in SIX WEEKS. I do not know the process of making wheels but I do know how to run a business. If you need eight, ten or fifty two weeks to make two wheels tell me up front so I can decide if that fits my needs. Louis Jeffery |

I had this happen to me last year the tire with the outside bead of the wheel flew off the car.
It sounded like a 12 gauge shot gun going off and then the car fell down. Luckily I was on the return road away from people and vehicles. The car suffered no damage. But it scared the heck outta me. The wheel did not shake, leak air or any thing to indicate it was failing. CRAZY!! Thank GOD no one was hurt. |
