Moroso front springs
Anybody who has put Moroso Springs in a 1982-1992 Camaro SBC Stocker, how much did you have to cut if any ? I.E. 1/2 coil, 3/4, full
coil, etc. to get the ride height you wanted. Thanks, J.R. |

Best to install them move car around, and see how ride height is before doing anything

Re: Moroso front springs
I bought a used set, previous owner said he cut 1/2 coil off. I installed them like that and the car sat a little high. I ran it like that and felt no difference from the 6 cyl springs. I took it apart and cut another 1/2 coil. I honestly can't remember if that was right or if I did it again, but when the car sat right there was a world of difference in how the car worked. It stopped just popping up and dropping back down on launch. It started lifting and staying up.
One thing for sure is use a Snapon,Branick spring compressor. break the A arm at the ball joint and use the spring compressor to collapse the spring as much as possible. I have to use a short piece of pipe on the center screw to keep it from hitting the frame at the top when installing the spring. I pull it down tight with an impact gun. It's not for the faint of heart. You can remove the compressor once the ball joint is attached and drop it out the bottom of the control arm http://www.ebay.com/itm/COIL-SPRING-...item3f3a71b012 This is the style compressor I use with the fork at the bottom. Be sure it's a name brand piece and not some China junk. |
Re: Moroso front springs
SBC 3rd gen f body 3/4 of a coil works real good and OTC makes the best spring comp. for these cars. The hook still does not work very well
on these cars. |
Re: Moroso front springs
What Greg said, although I cut 1 1/8 to 1/1/4 off and change them every 2 or 3 years...That puller is the berry's. Greg has the part #. He has a heavier 400 Pontiac and I have a small block Chevy......Don't cut anymore than 1 1/4 off or you will be buying another set.......I know

Re: Moroso front springs
I cut 1 full coil off mine and it's not enough, I would go with the 1 1/8 that was suggested by Jeff.

Re: Moroso front springs
We used to heat 'em on the car, alternating sides until the ride height was where we wanted.

That is awesome right there. Keep the rate in the spring and just drop the free length. |
