Amen to that. I hope all goes well for this hero on his planned adventure. Not only is the equipment a lot better now,, but I'm betting when he looks out on the beach before he jumps, that 23 year old kid will return for a moment. What an awesome trip he'll have. Thanks for sharing,, FED 387.

Re: D-day

very important day for all generations.
We must all appreciate their sacrifices.
As I appreciate our soldiers, all of them. Current, retired and those we have lost.

I thank my lucky stars for what they did for our country. I have heard so many stories from the few I personally know and knew.
The greatest generation!!!!!

I lost an uncle, Maurice, somewhere on that beach, that day.

I just double checked.....my uncle survived Normandy, with the 4th Infantry Division....However, he later was killed in Belgium. 23 years old.

My great uncle was in the "Band of Brothers". He was Warren "Skip" Muck played by the actor Richard Speight. He made it through D-day fine but died months later outside of the town of Foy during the Battle of the Bulge. This is a really nice video that Richard made when talking to a class, talking about how he researched his role and contacted my family:
