Valve spring question
ended up with a street 350 sbc and it has only run 8.20's...come to find out it has a .540 lift cam with stock valve springs....how much would it pick up if it had a set of springs that matched the cam?

Re: Valve spring question
If those are production cylinder heads, and have never even had the valve springs changed, that won't be all that is wrong. There probably is not enough clearance between the retainer and the top of the valve guide, either. In cases like that, it is hard to say what has been damaged. If the rockers were not changed to long slot rockers or aftermarket roller rockers, I'd be surprised if the rockers had not hit the rocker studs.

Re: Valve spring question
Its powerglide leave on transbrake at 3000 shift at 5500 5.38 gears...(think that may be hurting it)...steel chevy 041 heads has roller rocker arms, dual plane edelbrock intake holley 750 dp, forged pistons stock bottom end...car probably 3300 pounds as well.. 69 Camaro..plenty tire..4link, def not spinning.. best 1.74 60 ft..

Re: Valve spring question
Stock valve springs would coil bind at that lift. There's a whole lot more going on if that's your 60' on a TB.
