Tool steel lifters

Had problems with shubeck lifters (Lifter puck desintregated on dyno 2 times). Customers wants to run tool steel lifters in a 64 MaxWedge426. How much spring pressure should I run with them? Thank's!

Don't know about how much spring pressure you can have on tool steel,But how much spring pressure did you have on the Smith lifter when it shattered and how much rpm.Just curious .

235 valve closed, 570 open, ran those lifters for 9 tears wiyh the same combo without any issues.

Re: Tool steel lifters

With the correct tool steel lifter, and camshaft, with the correct surface treatment, you can run as much as 550 open pressure.

Do not, under any circumstances, run a DLC coated tool steel lifter on a cast iron core camshaft.
