Supergas Weight Balance

Hi Guys, In a perfect world what is the best weight balance for a Supergas car ?. IE; more weight on the front or more weight on the back. My car weighs between 2300 to 2400 pound , what average percentage of weight on front or rear ?. Car runs 9.90 at 163 mph.
Cheers Patrick.

You will get all kind of answers for this. Every car is differant. Most move weight in order to be able to cut a light If a person struggles to cut a light they will move weight to the rear. My car weighs 2400 lbs and I have 51% on the front, but I have no problem cutting a light. My engine makes pretty good power as well, as I have run 9.90 at 174.

Chuck's right .
Weight bias is not as big a deal as you might think .
Engine height has a bigger influence ,especially on cars with higher front bias , .........for example my Willys which weighs 2650# has 52% front weight bias with the crank at 13" ,full front end travel on the struts ,not locked down with limiters ,will murder the tree, I usually had .030 to .045 in the box.
My Corvette weighs 2350 and has the crank at 11 1/2" and has 56% on the rear tires. ,if I leave full tilt ,I have to run at least .050 in the box.
There are dozens of factors that effect reaction time besides the weight bias.

Re: Supergas Weight Balance

Hi Guys, Thank you for the replies, the crank centre line is approximately 9 3/4" , I will remeasure it. The car is an ex Pro Stock 1990 Beretta. We have made some changes to move weight around. The car launches with the wheels higher. We then noticed the tires getting a hard time so I will have to go out and test with different pressures.
Thanks again guys , cheers Patrick.
