Newbie needs chassis help
 

I have an 87 Camaro J/SA and I have just put a complete new Strange 12 bolt rear end with spool and axles and disc brakes I also bought a BMR torque arm so I feel like I've gotten the good stuff so far. i also have a good set of solid lower control arms, when I bought the car it appeared that the control arms that were on there were were Lakewood that had a traction arm that bolted to the control arm and then clamped around the rear end. my question is, Ive seen cars that have just the lower control arm and not the traction bar that clamps around the rear end. Do I need the traction bar also or will the car still work good without it. The reason I ask is because the brackets that attach to the control arm and the rear end or badly bent and cracked and I can't buy just those brackets.

since you have the good torque arm in it. you should be fine without them .

Yes I am putting a new torque arm in it i'm replacing the stock one with an adjustable one from BMR.

Those sound like the Lakewood bars...had them on my '99 Z-28. Yes, they are prone to break at the brackets...the nitrous shot had nothing to do with it lol.

If you try and use both, together, it might put the rear suspension is a serious bind. Don't know about the BMR torque arm, but some are designed with a short link with a pair of heims on the transmission end of the arm. That will prevent bind. The Apple Tree stuff from Pete Z makes the lower control arms act like mini-ladder bars. Those work great, even without a torque arm. Welcome to stock !
