1966 Plymouth Belvedere HP2 car
 

OK, I've been thinking of a car a coworker showed me in 1988. It was a 1966
Plymouth Belvedere HP2 car he had stored in his garage disassembled and primed. I think he said he bought it in Denver while at school for auto mechanics in mid late 70's. Engine was out and next to the car in a barn. He towed it home to long island. I saw the car and held the potato chip light fenders and doors. He said he raced it a bit in NYC before taking it apart to restore. Hadn't seen the guy since 89. I always wondered the history of those cars and there seems to be little on the net about them.
Anyone have any knowledge?

The HP2 designates early production 1966 hemi cars.These were found in the middle front of the front fenders,later models had 426 on the rear lower corners of the front fenders.The car had standard sheet metal and identical to the later production ,but like any Chrysler production car had minor quirks.:cool:

I remember seing the emblems too. Car was super clean w 18k I think it was on it.

Would love to know more. I wonder whose car he bought in Colorado and dragged home.
Was at Denver Auto and Diesel school I think it was. Can't believe I remember this much, lol.

Chris,if you want any more info on 66/67 Dodge and Plymouths you can contact my brother Tony George in Tampa FL,He advertises 66/67 restoration parts in the classified ads in Mopar Collecter Guide Magazine.
He is a unbelivable in his knowlege of these year B-bodys.The 67 WO/RO cars came with hemis only,everything delete, hood scoops and no sound deadner.Tony is a total wealth of knowledge.
