Inline race jug filter

Looking for suggestions of what to use as an inline filter with race jugs and flexible hose. Or what are you using as a filter from jug to cell?

i took some aluminum screen and put two layers crossed over the nipple then put the hose back on.(the nipple and hose screw onto the cap) I believe some come that way when u buy them

I have been using a paint strainer in a funnel when filling the cell for over 20 years and have not had an issue with debris. When I was unfortunate enough to run a BG fuel pump, the strainer showed the fiber outer pump liner disintegrating before it could cause problems in the lines or carb.

I hear you Mike. I've been using the same thing in the past and am looking to ditch the funnel thing altogether. I'd like to pour from jug to cell with the hose on jug cap but would like some kinda inline filter too. Just trying to get some ideas from what others may have used. Doug

I pour right out of the jug into my fuel cell. I do keep an eye on the inside of my jugs and make sure there is no sediment or debris of any kind in the jugs. I use the white jugs so I can see inside. Always has worked for me. Lately I have been buying my fuel in the sealed 5 gallon containers from VP. I think that keeps the fuel cleaner and fresher for a longer period of time.

paint filters work but you can get "fuzz" from the paper ones that might clog up passages etc.--- unless you can get the ones that have the plastic filter media in them--FED387

In the fuel system, aeromotive recommends you run a 100 micron filter on the inlet side of the pump, and a 40 micron on the outlet. Magnafuel recommends a 74 micron on the inlet and 25 micron on the outlet. I run the magnafuel 25 on the outlet side only, I use stainless steel mesh, stay away from paper elements. Some question the fact that if the prefilter becomes plugged, the fuel pump has to pull through a restriction which causes cavitation with resulting fuel pump damage and other problems. I do not run the prefilter because, instead like others I use a funnel with a screen in the bottom when filling the jugs from the drum and filling the fuel cell. I realize the benefit of not using a funnel though, the problem with a funnel, it's a pain not to be able to see your fuel level while you are pouring.
As far as a inline filter on your actual jug hose goes, I don't know of anyone making one like that, but it would be nice. You might could rig up one if you could put a AN10 fitting on the jug hose and then attach one of these inline filters to it.
