Carb Spacer

Who makes a good 1" - 2" carb open plenum spacer? I am working on friends bracket car, don't know a lot about the motor. He bought this back halved s-10 and motor as a package. I do know its a 377 sbc .570 ish flat tappet cam. 270-280 @.50, aluminum heads that have no name on them. Nice open plenum Edelbrock intake, Holley 4150.
Not looking for any top secrets. Just want to buy a good carb spacer that works.
Thanks Monte.

Re: Carb Spacer

Hvh makes a nice 4 hole I use a lot on dirt modified engines seems to average anywhere from 6-9 hp on the Dyno

Comp Cams makes a really nice one with vibration dampener built in. Great part, makes power, not cheap!

Re: Carb Spacer

X2 on the HVH spacer - they make a killer piece, 4 hole transitioning into an open, my own preference is the 2" one, we have seen 31hp on the dyno on one occasion with only the addition of the 2" spacer - might have been a bit too small of a plenum added to the change, but 31 is still 31.

Spacers are a trial and era part,I 've seen cases where they make 25,loses 25 ,or does nothing,it just depends on combo and how close plenum size is to what engine wants.

Re: Carb Spacer

If it's a "super sucker type spacer aka blended spacer you want, the phenolic version available from Canton is a better piece than the plastic from hvh...

https://www.cantonracingproducts.com...CER-BLENDED-1/

That said, I have never seen any improvement on the time slip from any spacer on any car I've owned or tuned in the over 20 years I've been racing however I have used 1/2" phenolic or wood to isolate the carb from manifold heat.

Further, many bracket cars are running a manifold with too much plenum volume for optimum performance and the addition of a spacer just makes it worse.
