Safety equipment question

Forgive me if this sounds stupid (or the answer is obvious) but do all of you guys who race Super Stock religiously wear the required pants? I am really tall (and definitely not thin) and the largest pair of pants I can find (3X) are skin-tight and way too short. I absolutely hate wearing them. I certainly don't want to break the rules, but on a hot day, they're miserable. Thanks.

Re: Safety equipment question

Impact, G-Force and others make custom fit racing pants....

I'd ask Art Leong where he gets his (sorry Art!). Or buy his car and he will throw in the suit!

You can get any thing you need but just like the rest of the time your gona have to pay extra.
I'm 6'8" 250. My wife had Simpson custom make me a perfect pair of pants and then had Racequip make me a set of size 15 shoes. You will need to have someone measure you for the size. They are worth every penny!:D

Fires are hotter. You only have to wear the fire pants during the run. Wear shorts and take the firepants off between rounds.

I find RJS's to have a lot more room and give in the waist and thigh than an off-the-shelf G-Force, and nice deep pockets. Not sure on 'big & tall' sizes, but I'm 6'3"/240, and the regular sizes are plenty comfy.

Most of my stuff comes from Nashville Tent and Awning. I am no where near 6' 8'', I am just over 5' 20'' tall and just under a slim and trim 300 lbs. Yes the car needs a driver to get to min. A/SA wt.

Re: Safety equipment question

I called G-Force (the brand of jacket and pants I'm using) and they were very helpful. The guy I spoke with said they're often asked by larger (and smaller) racers to make custom-sized stuff and they're happy to oblige. They've sent me an email with some kind of sizing chart, which requires me to take a number of measurements. When I provide the completed chart, they will make a set of pants to those dimensions. The pleasant surprise was the price... $230. The unpleasant surprise was the timing... 8-10 weeks, but if I end up with pants that are actually comfortable to wear, I'll be a happy man. thanks to everybody for the advice.

I use Ultrashield. They are 2x. (they go to 3x) They fit fine I'm 6' 4" and close to 300 pounds. I use suspenders to keep them from going into plumbers butt mode.

Then how did you get light enough to run CC/SA at Atlanta with those "max weight rules"?

Re: Safety equipment question

Very little gas, no weight box, no air guage, low of water, two week crash diet ( thought I was going to die ), and driving suit only. I know not a pretty picture.
