82 Camaro Stainless Headers

Looking for advice on Stainless Headers for a stock eliminator 305.
I am looking for a nice set of 2 step headers at a reasonable price.
I already have a set of 1" 5/8 stainless merge collectors.
These Camaro's are really tough for headers to fit right.
The car also has a TH350 with a deep pan.

I am running a set of 1" 5/8 street headers with the merge collectors on them and the end of the collector is right against the inside of the frame rail.

Thanks for any advice given.

Contact the Header Hippie. He is as reasonable as anyone for stainless. The main difference is that his will be near perfection.

Kyle, he might look like a Hippie in your side of the country, however, out here in the West, I believe the looks resemble more a Caveman when his hair is straight!!! :)

Randy, the reasonable price for custom stainless headers is $3K or there about. Never know something used can pop up.

If you are going to put down that kind of change you want them customized to your engine combination. More than likely what you have is close for development, may try the headman header believe they have a step and may also be four into one. Don't think their flat collector is all that great an idea.

The advice I took was to live with the header you have until the engine where you want it. Headers are the last high dollar part to purchase. Unless what you have is out to lunch they will add some icing to the cake. If your engine is good then it's time.

Mark at Performance welding does a good job but unless he has a jig you will need to bring your car to him. (He is really good with Mopars.)

Calvin Elston is really good but unless he recently got one does not have a jig for 3rd generation Camaros. He builds four into one and tri-y designs.

You may be able to do something with Jere Stahl, but not sure.

There are some others.

Best of Luck!

I may think of him as a Hippie, but he is my Hippie. :D

Mark is as good as they get as a person and he is brilliant with the headers. He built a set of Tri Y's for my Sunfire that absolutely hum. I truly feel he built a perfect set of headers for the car.

I know Mark has a jig for the 3rd generation Camaro's. He has several old cars around his shop that he uses to build headers. He didn't have one for my Sunfire so I had to bring it to him. I know he has the Camaro because that is where he made me sleep while I was there. It is a leaker.

I know DJ Pires has good words for Mark-he just got a pair of his headers and before I knew that I noticed a marked (no pun intended) improvement in his car's performance from last year. That's just one more bit of info-I also don't think DJ took his car out to him, but you can ask DJ.

Randy, i had Pete Z do the step headers for my 85 when i had it , they fit perfectly and were honestly worth 03 to 05 to a combo that i had running very well to begin with, the price is more than fair and reasonable, i currently have his headers on my 67 camaro now

I purchased all the materials from Mark at Perf Welding and since Mark was over 24 hours away, I had Larry Larson in Oak Grove, Missouri build my headers for my 1992 Camaro. Mark's help with the lengths and sizes was invaluable. His merge collectors are a work of art. I highly recommend talking with Mark at minimum. Buy the materials from him, he will take great care of you.
