Nitrided Comp cam

Has anybody had any issues with running a Nitrided Comp cam with Smith lifters? Does Comp still do this process with non roller cams?

I use that process on our own flat tappet cams with Shubeck lifters, and sell them to people using Smith's lifters, it works well.

Yes, it is offered on cast core flat tappet cams, I don't buy or sell one without it.

Re: Nitrided Comp cam

After having some failures on FT cams used in limited C Track engines I switched to the Comp Nitrided cams. Now I don't sell any thing but them. Finally started getting some of the small diameter springs with good rates to handle the RPM. Then the cams are too soft and fail. Seems like you are always chasing you tail in this business. Do it and don't look back. Look forward to the next thing that will fail, like fuel pump pushrods.....

I have used P-55 cam cores with no problems with my C track engines actually with all my HYD and flat tapper engines street and strip.
