Q Jet spacers, Q Jet upgrades

I was wondering what Quadrajet spacer everyone uses or has tested to be the better deal, i saw alot of Wilson spacers at Charlotte but i was told the Moroso was the better spacer, Also how do you know if you have a good Quadrajet carb, i have 2 one i bought off here for 600 dollars was told it was a Danny Ashely i belive, and the other came on a turn key motor and i was told it was a Boburka which is on the car now, how do i know if it is a good carb or i need more work on them, i guy looked at my spare carb which is 4 hundreths slower than the Boburka, and told me it was pretty much a stock Qudrajet.

assuming you are talking about a 2" open spacer, there is little to no differnence amongst brands. The 4 hole pnenolic insulating spacers do vary I have heard ( no personal experience).

As for the carb, if your guy does not specifically know Q-jets he may think its stock when its not.. But there are lots of little things inside you cant see. A 'stock' carb would be an enternity slower than a Boburka. If you have another carb thats within .04 of a Boburka, its a good carb.

Yes a standard 2 inch spacer is what is on my car.. Nothing special... I felt like I had 2 good carbs but nothing was told to me as why my spare was pretty much a stock core... To me it looks better than a stock carb... Thanks for the info

Brandon, I think some combine a 1 inch 4 hole and an open 1 inch. I have seen the taper bore 4 hole and have no knowledge of its affect. Have you tried the angled spacer yet?
Consider Val Hedworth for the carb. We had good luck with them. I have two Boburka 85, 305 type Q jets for sale.

There is no better q jet builder than Jim Boburka. If it was built by him it will have JBR stamped on it near the carb number.

My Carb has JBR stamped on it a few places..

Dick, my old intake has a angle on it but i havent tried that intake with this new combo, and i have not tried a angle spacer, my spacer on the car now is a 2 inch Mr. gasket, and a regular carb gasket, my other intake has a Moroso on it.... i have not tried the 4 hole but wondering what it would make in HP

Brandon, the only way to tell if one Q-jet is better than the other is to test them at the track. You can have the same carb builder build you 4 carbs and they are all goi g to vary within probably .08. It's all in finding a good core and the only way to know if its a good core is run it down the track.

I have ran both down the track plenty of times... I have just been told that they both need work and are pretty much stock cores... I see plenty of things that have been done to both carbs I am starting to wonder what else could be done if I see all these upgrades done to it but its still called pretty much stock... I put a Holley 750 on it last year at a bracket race off my stocker and it ran the same et as my quadrajet ran that day
