Cam Dynamics cam spec.
Anybody have an old Cam Dynamics book? A friend got a hold of an Olds 350-455 solid camshaft with the part no. 1173 and he would like to know the duration @ .050" and lobe lift. Thank you in advance if you can help.

Jim,
It may be quicker to stick it in a block and map it. |

Re: Cam Dynamics cam spec.
You can measure lobe lift w' pair calipers, measure lobe from to top to bottom then on sides, base circle as example if lobe was 1.300'' tall then subtract base say was 1.000''
would equal .300'' lobe lift then multiply by rocker ratio to get lift @ valve. Mike Taylor 3601 |
Re: Cam Dynamics cam spec.
Jim,
I have a pretty old CD catalog at the shop. I will try to remember and look in the AM. 1173 almost sounds like a Wolverine Blue Racer number, I will look there too :) |
Re: Cam Dynamics cam spec.
Jim,
All of the numbers in my CD book are 5 digit. The only 1173 I could find was a Wolverine Blue Racer but it was for a small block Chevy. Any other numbers on the cam ?? Are you certain it is Cam Dynamics ? My catalog is a 1991 and they don't have any solid lifter Olds cams listed. |
Re: Cam Dynamics cam spec.
Most CD cams have two three digit numbers stamped in the front or rear to record the master number used for the cam. Anything like that?
