Front tire for slower stocker
Any advantage to a taller tire for a slower stocker N/SA. New build and putting on the final touches. Thanks

We run 28 Goodyears on Kids N/SA.

Re: Front tire for slower stocker
A taller tire will provide more rollout for slightly faster ET's IF you stage shallow. But it can also increase overall reaction times, which tend to be slower in a slower stocker. Then you have to make adjustments to yourself and your staging technique to find a comfortable spot on the tree.

Re: Front tire for slower stocker
Tire clearance to the body may become an issue. You don't want them to rub the tops of the fenderwells after launch, for example. Wheel offset may have to be exactly correct, limiting the selection of wheels.

I run 28 on the front.

Re: Front tire for slower stocker
I would be interested to know what the e.t. difference would be between a 28 " front vs. a 25.5-26 " front. (with all else being equal and barely staging the same)
My P/SA has 28's on the front. |
Re: Front tire for slower stocker
There was no et difference at all from 27.5 to 23 inch tires. However the reaction was definitely better.
In the early days when photocells was all jacked up yes maybe et difference. But in today's world they set starting line beams way to low. With the 23 in tires I have app 4 inches of rubber on the ground the same for the 27.5. Maybe half inch more where the beams hit. If the beam hit the middle of the wheel I woul agree but it doesn't. Re: Front tire for slower stocker
Anyone really want to find out. Get a tape measur and start pullin some measurements with proper air pressure and then go make some runs. You will be surprised. 60 bulbers can turn into 20 bulbers real quick and make the cars look better.

I don't know what size they are,but I would get the same ones that are on Jody Lang's wagon.

Re: Front tire for slower stocker
I went from 28" to 26". I got better reaction and slowed about .05.
