if i was to run O/SA what would my minimum weight be? or N/SA what would it be?

I guess O/SA 3620, N/SA 3505 with driver, Mite need to known year and motor of car to be sure. Tom

Weight break x NHRA rated horsepower + 170 for "nominal" weight of the driver.

what about if my car is in J/sa at 12.77 in order to run the class up K/SA do I factor based on the 13.00 break or the 13.49 break for my weight that i need to add? I think that was the question Duster had he was asking for me.

Following up on what Jim said -

If you check the classification guide for the year, make/model and combination you plan on running, the published factor (for example your 12.77 would be a J class rounded down to 12.50) is the key to determining what "natural" class you fall in. Use the guide to find out what the NHRA horsepower is for your chosen combination (there may be a few for each different engine depending on whether certain engine parts have been superseded) and then use the formula to come up with your minimum weight for that class. You always have the option of adjusting the vehicle weight to run one class higher or one class lower.

Right thats what im confused on though. How do i figure out how much weight to add? do i use the 13.00 or the 13.49 for K/SA weight break? I have my weight for J/SA "the natural class" but I really don't think I am fast enough to make any head way in that class.

Jim and Lew told you the right way to figure it.
Now I'll tell you the easy way.
If you know the correct weight for J , just take the factored HP, divide it in half , and that's how much weight you add... You are moving down another half pound class> 12.50 to 13.00

Thanks a lot Mark. So much info to get through for all stock requirements I was starting to think i was losing my mind and couldn't understand basic math.

my car is a 1970 plymouth duster with a 318 2 barrel. i am hoping to run N/SA but was wondering on my weight
