I remember the car from the '70's at Numidia. ..You either loved or hated it !
The Phillips 66 sponsor used to run a SS/U or V Olds ,and Joe Yost and Don Burns at B&Y machine shop are still in business, still building engines.

Wow, great find...I hope they leave it as is! A little clean-up and TLC is all it needs...

A bit odd....complete Mopar drivetrain in early Chevy...hence the name...wouldn't change a thing....

What's that antique car in the corner of the garage?

Stegmeier - I believe his first name was Delbert - ran a SS/U 55 or 56 Olds stick at Maple Grove regularly in the 76-77 timeframe. He used to tow it the track on the back of the Phillips 66 gas station tow truck with the rear wheels in the air. It was a low 13 - high 12 second car that was impressive for a low buck effort. It went rounds too. I loved watching that car run.

Anybody have some pictures out there?

D/G = 57' Chevy's

NHRA should have made it a 'car specific' 57' Chevy 'only class'

All time GREATEST magazine project car.

I remember when it got the Tony Nancy interior and rear seat area cover.

Frame must have velcro motor mounts!!!

Needs to be continuing into today's technology somewhere.

That was it's purpose, staying in tune with the times.
