Best floor jacks
My wagon is 3,600 lbs. I need a light weight jack with a high a high reach point for use at the track. Remember I do not park on asphalt as I have a lowly Stocker. I am old, so it has to be light. Thanks

Re: Best floor jacks
Ron, I have one of these in the shop.
It's a 2 ton capacity, aluminum, but it still weighs in at a little over 50#. The 1 1/2 ton jobs are about 35 #. http://www.asedeals.com/zinko_alumin...ing_jacks.html |
Re: Best floor jacks
I have had very good luck with the Craftsman Alum. Jacks. Not the cheap on they sell the more expensive one. I have one in the shop, one on my service truck, and one in the race trailer. Not one problem out of any of them. The one in the trailer has lived a easy life. The other two have had it pretty rough and still keep going.

Re: Best floor jacks
I use the Harbor Freight one ( the better one not the cheap one) 2 ton capacity about 45 pounds.. Works fine I think it's about $150

Re: Best floor jacks
I am not going to start a HF thread, but I use the blue/silver lightweight aluminum jack at the track and for Cal-Trac adjustments. It works very well, but the lightweight model's lift height is not as much as the 2+ ton model.
I believe the lightweight Jegs jack is the same mfr as the HF model. |
Re: Best floor jacks
Like Art, we also used a Harbor Freight jack. The better ones, but still affordable. But in addition to lift capacity, as cad said, you need to pay attention to lift height.
We got a heavy rubber mat, actually a couple to put over a wide board in the grass so the jack didn't sink into the dirt/mud/grass .... you know... all of the stuff you deal with in the stock pits. David The New Hemi Guy |

I have not had the same luck with the Craftsman Alum jack. I found out the hard way that the same warranty for hand tools does not apply to their floor jack. Just past having for a year and it stopped lifting 100% of max height. Not sure if it is made anymore, but supposedly not rebuildable. This is the one I have. http://community.craftsman.com/Craft...--2783-reviews |
