Stock Seat Rule Example Question
I can find no record of 1967 Chevy ll Sedan having a SS or subsequently a bucket seat option. Keep in mind SEDAN post car. If that is the case in fact.....the sedan only had a bench seat. Can that bench seat now be replaced by two racing seats in NHRA Stock Eliminator ??? Forgive me for any redundance.

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
forgive me for the redundancy......NHRA says YES......put the racing seats in.

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
The way I read it the seats both driver and passenger must be identical however you can replace a bench with buckets but they must be either OEM OR aftermarket equivalent to an OEM seat--- no where does it say "racing" seat it is either OEM or aftermarket OEM equivalent--- I would check with the Div tech dept or maybe Bruce Bachelder for a clarification on this ----but be prepared to show an example or explain the seat you want to substitute for what is in the vehicle now

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
I just read the rule, and it appears to be written identically to the super stock rule. That means racing seats are legal.

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
I'd be very cautious here in interpreting what NHRA means ---yes they do seem to mirror each other in their wording but again I cannot find the word "racing' in either Stock or Super Stock regarding the use of front seats--- The only thing I see is OEM or aftermarket OEM equivalent----- NOTHING about 'RACING" seats---better get it in writing from NHRA as to "RACING" seats being OK to use in either class

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
the clarification I needed was mainly about the replacement of bench seats where buckets seats were not an option such as the 67 Chevy ll post sedan ( non SS ) and station wagons for examples.

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
Rusty-- I see your point but as I said better check with NHRA for the ultimate decision--- ask em outright "Can I use 1966 Chevy II bucket seats in a 1966 Chevy II 2 door sedan even tho the factory did not offer them???"---- you will get your clarification "yes its OK or no you cannot" then you can make your decision which way to go

Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
Hot off the press----stand by everyone------NHRA is rediscussing it and is going to give me a ruling in reference to replacing bench only cars.
|
Re: Stock Seat Rule Example Question
OK------- AS IT STANDS FOR NOW THIS MOMENT----FROM NHRA---- BUCKET SEATS CANNOT REPLACE BENCH SEATS IN CARS THAT BENCH ONLY SEATS WERE AVAILABLE.
now about the 1967 Chevy ll sedan post-----because it was a SS hardtop available option, could that sedan post car have ever had bucket seats ???? |
