60's and 70's junior stock
 

I am looking for pictures and/or video of some particular junior stockers that ran at Sandford Drag Strip to put into a final album honoring my father from that era. Specifically, a 1940's olds named Satan's Crate, Ward's and Warren's 57 chevy named the stinger, Chester Raburn's '55 chevy wagon, Ebern Watson's SuperRooster, Bill Roland's Rapid Rocket '66 olds 442's, and a black '57 chevy named the "Widowmaker",Pug's '69 ford torino, and Steve Taylor's '67 chevelle with red wheels.Any help would be greatly appreciated and i would gladly pay for the photos or videos. Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Good luck Jim. I've been searching for and collecting old drag racing pics for the past 12 years and the only car that I've seen a pic of in your list is Ebern Watson's "Super Rooster". There was a fellow by the name of Bill Peters that posted some old pics from Sanford on the Yahoo Stk/SS group 7 or 8 years ago but I haven't seen or heard from him in years. If you get lucky and find some old pics I would love to see them.

Thanks Bob. I've been looking for a while and have only found a couple. Unfortunately, my mother hated drag racing and never went with dad to the drag strips around here... so I don't have many pictures from those days. I especially have been looking for one from Sandford that someone took at the finish line in the finals with Bobby Warren (driving David Ward's 57 chevy) barely beating our 57 with my uncle driving.

The "northern" Sanford track was in Maine...spelled w/o the "d"...and closed after
the '67 season I think....
